CIVIL WAR RECORDS AT THE VERMONT STATE ARCHIVES
Records of the Vermont Civil War Centennial Committee, 1957-1965
To commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of the Civil War, the Vermont Civil War Centennial Committee was inaugurated by Governor Joseph Johnson in the autumn of 1958. The committee was charged with planning and coordinating Vermont's participation in centennial observances and coordinating plans with the programs of the National Commission. The records include correspondence, minutes, newspaper clippings, and assorted records documenting the activities of the Vermont Committee, the New England regional committee, and the National Civil War Centennial Committee. These records are available on microfilm at the State Archives and Records Administration.
