STORING SECURITY RECORDS AT THE STATE RECORDS CENTER

VSARA stores security copies of land records on behalf of municipalities and counties, pursuant to 3 V.S.A. § 117(g)(10). A security copy is a reproduction of a record created and managed to preserve the information in case the original is damaged. This service is available to municipal clerks that record land records, including city, town, village and county clerks, as well as supervisors of unorganized towns and gores.

Procedure VSARA0010 Refer to this procedure when transferring records to the State Records Center.
VSARA-23: Land Records Storage Agreement You must have this agreement on file with VSARA prior to transferring any records.

This agreement outlines the roles and responsibilities of both you and VSARA for management of security copies stored at the State Records Center.
VSARA-25: Land Records Transfer Sheet

This form must be received by the Local Records Program Coordinator ( or see contact information below) prior to each transfer of records. This form may be completed electronically and e-mailed or printed and mailed.
