List of State Officers, Introduction
State Officers include governors, lieutenant governors, state treasurers, secretaries of state, auditors of accounts, and attorneys general. Secretaries of state and auditors of accounts were not popularly elected until 1884. The attorney general's office was abolished in 1787 and re-established in 1904.
