About the Director

Ali Sarafzade is the Director of the Corporations Division for the Office of the Secretary of State. In that capacity, Ali manages a staff of six and plans, supervises, and executes budgetary, legislative, IT, and staff efforts related to the management of the state’s business registry, Uniform Commercial Code filings, and related matters.

Ali has particular expertise in the areas of project management, economic development, and the development and execution of government IT projects.

Prior roles in government include positions with the United States Senate Committee on Finance; the Office of the D.C. Attorney General, as Assistant General Counsel of the D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs; with the Vermont Department of Economic Development, Director of International Trade for the state of Vermont, and executive director of the Vermont Global Trade Partnership.

Ali has an MBA from Duke University and a law degree from the University of Virginia.
