DMV Rule No. 9 - Operator License Endorsements.
Vermont Proposed Rule: 07P005
AGENCY: Transportation, Dept. of Motor Vehicles
CONCISE SUMMARY: As a result of the Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act (MCSIA), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued rules regarding the issuance of school bus endorsements. One of the law's impacts is that the issuance of school bus endorsements is now under the authority of the FMCSA rather than the individual states. As a result, the FMCSA has lowered the blood pressure limits to obtain a school bus endorsement from 160/90 to 140/90. In addition, the FMCSA changed the criteria for the information contained on our written (knowledge) school bus endorsement exams to consist of 20 multiple-choice questions, 9 fill-in the blank questions, and 2 essay questions.
TYPE OF PERSONS AFFECTED: School Bus drivers, school districts that transport their students on school buses and Department of Motor Vehicles.
COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS: There is no measurable economic impact associated with this rule as this rule currently exists, it has simply been modified.
