Newspapers of Record

Annually, the secretary of state designates a number of newspapers to provide general coverage across the state as the "Newspapers of Record" (see 3 V.S.A. § 839 (d) for details).

These newspapers are divided into two categories: "Daily Newspapers" and "Weekly Newspapers". The categories do not reflect the type of newspaper, but rather the type of notice placed in them for the purpose of noticing administrative rules.

Daily Newspapers are those newspapers that will receive two notices. The first notice includes a detailed description of the rule with hearing and contact information provided by the agency promulgating the rule. The second notice is an abbreviated notice published the following week containing the title of the rule, agency name, and contact information.

Weekly Newspapers are those that receive a single abbreviated notice containing the title of the rule, agency name and contact information provided by the agency promulgating the rule.   Notices are published in the newspapers on most Thursdays. Please note that holidays may necessitate an alternate publication day.   Notices in newspapers that normally publish once a week rather than each day will appear in the paper on the scheduled publish day.

Below is the list of Newspapers designated June 21, 2007 as the newspapers of record for the purpose of publishing administrative rule notices for the period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.
